Aligning with the Common Core Standards:
Writing: In conjunction with the College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Writing, “students need to learn to use writing as a way of offering and supporting opinions, demonstrating understanding of the subjects they are studying, and conveying real and imagined experiences and events”
Math: Guiding Principle 5 “An effective mathematics program builds upon and develops students’ literacy skills and knowledge. “Mathematics classrooms should incorporate a variety of written assignments ranging from math journals to formal written proofs
ELA: Guiding Principle 5 “An effective English language arts and literacy curriculum emphasizes writing arguments, explanatory/informative texts, and narratives”.
Mass. Science & Technology/Engineering Frameworks: Guiding Principle VI: “Students should be able to use reading, writing, and communication skills to enhance their understanding of scientific and technological/engineering text materials”.
